Why It’s Important to Plan For The Legacy You’re Leaving Before You Ride Off Into the Sunset

This entertaining but highly informative article from lawyer Brian Herd gives us a compelling reason to prepare for our eventual demise right now. “For all its redeeming features, happiness has its downsides. A sense of personal satisfaction and comfort about our lives, cling-wrapped and hermetically sealed from outside forces, can create a sense of apathy. I call it ‘hapathy’ – the apathy of happy. It will stimulate inaction,” he warns. It is this same hapathy that prevents us from preparing to leave a legacy to our loved ones and to the rest of the world.

In this article, he tries to convince us to think, as we sail into the sunset of our retirement life, how we choose to prepare for what’s to come. He enumerates the number of cases that he’s handled for people who failed to do so. It’s a messy scene.
